The principle stock exchange in Switzerland is SIX Swiss Exchange. There are 15 extractive companies listed on SIX with a total market cap of €276,502,167,000. The biggest of the extractive companies listed on SIX is Schlumberger Ltd with a market cap of €78,425,924,000. Five of the extractive companies listed on SIX are also covered by the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US. However, companies listed in Switzerland will not be covered by EU level legislation. In December 2012 a motion that would compel mining companies and private commodity trading houses to declare payments made to resource-rich countries was rejected by the Cabinet. Swiss officials have said commodities companies should voluntarily police themselves, however NGOs and MEPs have urged mandatory disclosures.
